Allegheny County, PA Contracts with Tiburon, Inc. for a $6.4 Million Integrated Public Safety Solution

PLEASANTON, CA, August 26, 2008 —Tiburon, Inc. announced today that it has signed a $6.4 million contract to provide an integrated public safety system for Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Tiburon, headquartered in Pleasanton, CA, is an industry-leading provider of automated public safety and justice systems to meet the demanding and complex needs of law enforcement, fire, rescue, corrections, and justice agencies.

Allegheny County, located in heart of the mid-Atlantic states, covers 745 square miles and serves a population of 1.2 million people. This comprehensive public safety solution includes Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), records management, mobile data, and field reporting systems to support the law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services of Allegheny County and the city of Pittsburgh. The multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional CAD system will support the Sheriff’s Office, Pittsburgh Police Department, and an additional 134 police, 216 fire, and 68 emergency medical service departments throughout the county. After a rigorous bidding process and extensive analysis of multiple vendors, Allegheny County chose Tiburon to provide this complete end-to-end suite of public safety systems.

The new CAD system will allow dispatchers to respond to, manage, and track emergency calls more efficiently. Operating on fully distributed Microsoft Windows® workstations, the system provides server-independent processing of all critical CAD functions and a reliable configuration approaching 100% system availability. This distributed design ensures optimum availability even during catastrophic component failure. Tiburon has successfully deployed this unique system architecture in more than 50 city, county, and statewide public safety communication centers across the country.

“Tiburon’s unique disaster-tolerant system architecture sets us apart from the competition and provides our clients with the assurance that their dispatch system will be available when they need it the most,” said Jeffrey Stone, President and CEO of Tiburon.

Being located in a densely populated area, Allegheny County wanted to provide a completely redundant, overflow communication center for their dispatch operations. In the event additional dispatch resources are required or the primary communication center becomes inoperable, this disaster-tolerant configuration will allow the overflow communications center to operate as an extension of the primary center or as a fully independent call-taking and dispatch facility, with accurate, up-to-the second information.

Part of Tiburon's total solution for Allegheny County is a comprehensive mobile communications component that includes a mobile data system that allows first responders to quickly send and receive critical information from the field during emergency situations. With Tiburon’s field reporting system, officers can enter and access case and accident reports while in their vehicles. This integrated mobile solution increases the speed and accuracy of information and allows officers to spend more time in the community.
